The Republican’s proposal gives millionaires huge tax breaks while seniors and hard-working families pay more for health care and get less coverage. Ryan’s plan would radically undermine the economic security of America’s middle class. It helps Wall Street-run health insurance companies make record-breaking profits and pay their CEOs outrageous sums to deny people the care they paid for and need.2

Nowhere in the Republican plan is there any shared sacrifice. There’s no fairness. The big corporations and super-rich aren’t asked to pitch in. Instead they get even richer. This budget changes the rules and reshapes this country in a breathtakingly dangerous way.

This budget would eviscerated programs that everyone in this country depend on. Republicans are attacking every single one of us.3

The GOP’s budget breaks America’s most basic promise: That if you work hard and play by the rules, you can take care of your family and retire with peace of mind.4 Call Congress today.

Tonight, the President reminded Congress and the country that we need to finish health reform AND finish it right. He said, “Do not walk away from reform. Not now. Not when we are so close. Let us find a way to come together and finish the job for the American people.” He’s right.
And as we know, it takes more than words to pass health care reform. We have to fight. Harder than ever. Because that’s exactly what the insurance industry is doing. And if they win, we lose!
So we have to turn up the heat. For months we’ve called and written letters, knocked on doors and had meetings. Now we have to do even more.

Eliminate Lifetime and Annual Caps Today

Take Action!

Health care reform is moving quickly in the negotiations between the Senate and House bill. The House bill language is much stronger and we need to ensure that lifetime caps and annual limits are eliminated. Please call your Senator today and ask them to support a “Dear Colleague” letter on lifetime caps. Tell your Senator to contact Senator Byron Dorgan’s office to add their name to the letter.

Next, call your Representative and have them sign onto the “Dear Colleague” letter being circulated by Congressman Kennedy and Congresswoman McMorris Rogers. They can contact Representative Kennedy’s office to be added to the letter. The deadline for this letter is the end of the day on Thursday, January 14th.
